How a Foil Edition Gets Made
What makes a foil edition worth keeping.
A regular paperback is printed. A foil edition is made. Here's what happens between the cover art you love and the object that arrives at your door.
1 · The art comes first
Every Transformation Trilogy foil starts with the full painted cover — then the design is separated into layers: what stays ink, and what becomes metal. Titles, filigree, and the details that deserve to catch light are mapped onto a foil plate.
2 · Stamped, not printed
Gold foil isn't gold ink — it's a physical layer of metallic film pressed into the cover stock under heat and pressure. It's why the light moves across it, and why no two copies catch it quite the same way.
3 · Printed close to you
Editions are produced at regional presses in the UK, US, Canada, and Australia and shipped from the one nearest you — faster arrival, less freight, no warehouse limbo.
4 · Always in the making
Here’s the good news: foil editions are printed as they’re ordered, so they don’t vanish. The truly finite things around here are the sprayed-edge runs and the signed stock on Cassie’s own shelves — and the Inner Circle hears about those first.
