Bloodshifted, the final book in the Edie Spence series, is alllllmost out! :D
The reader response on this one so far has been pretty darn fantastic. I’m very pleased that it’s getting its moment in the sun, and trying not to have all the feels in the world about it being the last one.
When I turned it in, I did so assuming that I’d be getting the chance to write additional books in the series. And so while it has a book ending, it does not have the epic series ending that the series deserves. Which is why people are already asking me if there’s gonna be a sequel. At this point, I really don’t know. I have all the sequel stuff going on, up in my head, and I’d love to write it — but I only have so much free time, currently. Y’all don’t understand how much hustling behind the scenes I’m doing right now, trying to get my erotica career to kick off, and waiting on pins and needles to hear back from my agent about my YA.
If either of those things take off, full steam ahead, then I can stop working extra shifts, and then I would have time to write Dayshifted. (See?!?! I already know what it’d be called. *sob*.) But if they don’t, then I am where I am, writing my ass off until the next big thing takes.
It is no lack of love or enthusiasm for Edie that’s stopping me. It’s just that it’s far easier to ‘hit’ with something new than it is to flog life into a pre-existing property. And so while I love that Edie has a small and dedicated fanbase, I also have to take things into consideration like ‘how much free time I currently have’ and ‘do I like to eat and/or pay bills?’
I do hope you enjoy Bloodshifted, it’s a great book, and totally worth your time. As for a series-ending, trust me, no one’s hurt more by this than I am.
Love,
Cassie
Ms. Alexander, this is my first time your blog. I just wanted to tell you that I am very sorry to hear that “Bloodshifted” is the last book in this series (for the moment). I am one of the fans that absolutely ADORES your “Edie Spence” series, guts, gore, evisceration and sexytimes included. You actually managed to convince me that a decaying zombie was sexy. I wish you much luck and success in your future projects. I’ll be keeping my eyes out AND my wallet open for them, because really? When people say “Cassie Alexander” these days, all I hear is “Give me your money.”
Awwww — thank you so much! I appreciate it! :D
Ms. Cassie, I terribly heartbroken that the series is (temporarily?) at an end. I have been with you since the beginning, and I even had my mother reading these until she passed last August. She loved them as much as I do. I am soooo depressed, because I found out that Kim Harrison is ending her Rachel Morgan series this year, too. Two of my all time fave authors ending my fave series at the same time??? Inconceivable!
I will continue to follow your career (hopefully Edie will be back down the road), and I wish you all the best. I will do all I can to push your books onto other book lovers in hopes you can write full time. Best wishes and good luck!
Hey Lori, sorry to respond to this so belatedly — but I appreciate you commenting and letting me know how much the series meant to you. It’s nice to hear. Thanks for the support, it means a lot to me :D
I love this series (and I just finished Bloodshifted this morning!), and it makes me so sad to think of the series ending. I’m keeping my fingers crossed (as are a lot of my friends who also read these books) that it gets picked back up again! Such a refreshing take on urban fantasy. You are an inspiration. :)
Thanks Casey!
It makes me sad about it ending too. I appreciate the good thoughts, and I’ll keep writing for sure :D
I am a new reader to your books. I started reading Nightshifted after a glowing review on Charlaine Harris’ Book & Blog a few month ago. http://charlaineharris.com/?tag=cassie-alexander
I am totally hooked. I’m currently reading Bloodshifted (no spoilers please) but please do not stop writing this character! After reading Nightshifted I recommended it to my mom & sister – they are hooked onto the series too. Even though it’s an “old” series, give it time and promote the crap out of it on Kindle. It will get bigger. Also, work on your other series. As people start reading the new novels, they will discover the old works and want to read them too.
Awww, thanks for the kind words, Sharon. I’ll definitely keep writing! :D
Hi everyone I hate to say this but I couldn’t find her other books they only had her new one deadshifted which i amazing
