Nightshifted
“The best debut Urban Fantasy I’ve read all year. Nightshifted is simply amazing!” –Kat Richardson, bestselling author of the Greywalker series
Welcome to the secret wing of County Hospital—where vampires get transfusions, werewolves have silver allergies, and one nurse is in way over her head…
Nursing school prepared Edie Spence for a lot of things. Burn victims? No problem. Severed limbs? Piece of cake. Vampires? No way in hell. But as the newest nurse on Y4, the secret ward hidden in the bowels of County Hospital, Edie has her hands full with every paranormal patient you can imagine—from vamps and were-things to zombies and beyond…
NIGHTSHIFTED
Edie’s just trying to learn the ropes so she can get through her latest shift unscathed. But when a vampire servant turns to dust under her watch, all hell breaks loose. Now she’s haunted by the man’s dying words—Save Anna—and before she knows it, she’s on a mission to rescue some poor girl from the undead. Which involves crashing a vampire den, falling for a zombie, and fighting for her soul.
Grey’s Anatomy was never like this…
Nightshifted was published on May 22, 2012 by St. Martin’s Press. You can order it on Amazon.
German rights to the first two books of Nightshifted sold to Piper Verlag. Nightshifted will be coming out in German in June of 2012.
As promised! German cover art! — Piper Verlag held a contest in early March to determine which cover would be used for the German edition of Nightshifted and Moonshifted. I love all four of them, but I’m particularly fond of the two blood bag entries.
Newer news ;) — the blood bag covers won! Nightshifted can be found on German Amazon here, and Moonshifted here. They’ll be coming out in Feb and April 2012 respectively.
And French publisher J’ai Lu just purchased Nightshited and Moonshifted too! More info/release dates/covers as I get it :D.

So proud of you, girl! You made it! And this is just the beginning! Also, this book souns VERY interesting and I will be purchasing it when it comes out (I really like the hospital scenario you have here):DDD
Hey Cassie, are you doing any book signings/writing events this year? If you’re in the Baltimore area, I’d like to meet you, here your thoughts on writing, advice, etc! (and autograph next Jan.)
Hey Elton!
Nothing near Baltimore this year, unfortunately. (I live on the other coast, so I don’t make it over that far very often.) And i usually hit Wiscon instead of Balticon. I appreciate the thought tho — if i do make it out that way, i’ll be sure to let you know :D.
Hey Cassie,
on the Website from the German Publisher Piper is a Voting for the Cover in Germany:
http://www.piper-fantasy.de/content/covervoting-zu-cassie-alexander-%C2%BBnightshifted%C2%AB-band-1-und-2
I like the idea of the Books – i’m also a Nurse – and i think, i will buy the first. ;)
Thanks so much Hermia! I got your message on here this morning, and my website promptly died for the day :P. I really appreciate you letting me know!
I tried to make it as hospital-accurate as possible while still serving the story. I’d love to hear your opinion on it once it’s out — I’m really curious how that will translate, and if being a nurse is the same all over the world.
I love those covers, but I swear in my books the protagonist never wears pearls or white thigh highs to work ;).
Oh, and i forgot: the Voting End is on March 16th.
[...] is, Cassie knows a lot about writing. Her three-book urban fantasy series Nightshifted is about to come out, and she’s writing a magnificent series of posts on How to Write a Novel [...]
