So much progress today!

Yesterday, I went to my therapist, and I was all, “Everything is so fine right now! So completely fine!” and then when I came home I couldn’t face my book. I took two naps of depression (the second was for 3 hrs) because my brain was all, “Can’t do this right now. See ya!” So I trudged forward for a page or two of notes (mind you, I need to do ten single spaced pgs of actual book a day to hit my Zone of Absolute Fortune schedule goals) and then gave up and was sad.

Today, the notes paid off, and I was able to hit the ground running. I wrote 3500 of new stuff that got the plot going where it needed to go in an exciting/interesting fashion :D. It’s not perfect yet, and yes it kills me to be writing first draft at this late stage in the game, but! much! progress!

I sent the new chunk off to my first reader. He and I are both big Escaflowne fans — which is great, because we use those characters as touchstones for where we want my writing to go. I apologized to him that a character wasn’t Folkien-level cool yet. But we’ll get there :D. I’m ten pages behind my perfect schedule, but tomorrow’s another day :D

Another great thing from today was this quote from Ray Bradbury:

“If you want to write, if you want to create, you must be the most sublime fool that God ever turned out and sent rambling. You must write every single day of your life. You must read dreadful dumb books and glorious books, and let them wrestle in beautiful fights inside your head, vulgar one moment, brilliant the next. You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads. I wish you a wrestling match with your Creative Muse that will last a lifetime. I wish craziness and foolishness and madness upon you. May you live with hysteria, and out of it make fine stories — science fiction or otherwise. Which finally means, may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.

That last sentence is so awesome, and true. And it would make a fabulous tattoo quote. More on tattoos tomorrow ;).
